Music

Music at Christ Episcopal

The congregation’s singing voice is its principal musical instrument. We use the Hymnal 1982 as our primary source for hymns and liturgies, but also draw from the Hymnal 1982’s supplement Wonder, Love, & Praise (1997), as well as the hymnal Lift Every Voice and Sing II (1993) and the Worship & Praise Songbook (1999). Most congregational singing is accompanied on our Allen digital organ.

Chancel Choir
Chancel Choir

Our Chancel Choir is open to all singers from high school age and up. Composed of 19 men’s and women’s voices, we rehearse Wednesday evenings from 7:00-8:30pm in the sanctuary. The choir sings nearly every Sunday at the 10:30am service from September-May, with a warm-up before the service from 10:00-10:15am to review that day’s anthem. The choir also sings at holy days such as Christmas Eve and a few Holy Week services.

New singers are always welcome!

Bell Choir
Bell Choir

Christ Episcopal Church has a wonderful set of Schulmerich bells. Our Bell Choir rehearses at 5:30 on Tuesday evenings. They perform 3-4 times per year at the 10:30 service. Experience in reading music is preferred but not required. For more information, contact Dan Laaveg, who will put you in touch with the bell choir director, Janet Leary.
